The Executive Board is a higher administration body that is responsible for planning, supervising, coordinating, and controlling Embrapa's activities as well as elaborating its policies. It comprises the president and three executive directors: Executive Director of Institutional Management (ED-IM), Executive Director for Research and Development (ED-R&D), and Executive Director of Innovation and Technology (ED-IT).

President

Celso Luiz Moretti

Moretti has a degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Viçosa (1990), a specialist degree in production engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2003), and a master's degree (1993) and a PhD (1998) in Plant Science (Plant Production) from the Federal University of Viçosa. He has worked as a guest lecturer of the Horticultural Sciences Department of the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA, since 2006; as a collaborating professor and postgraduate student advisor of the Department of Human Nutrition of the University of Brasilia; and as honorary professor of the Department of Agroindustry of Universidad Nacional del Santa (Peru), since 2010. He was the General Head of Embrapa Vegetables (Brasilia, DF) between August 2008 and March 2013, the Head of Embrapa's Research and Development Department between 2013 and 2017, and Executive Director of Research and Development from 2017 to 2019. Moretti has experience in the area of Science and Food Technology, with emphasis on Post-Harvest Physiology, working especially in the following topics: quality, vegetables, post-harvest, storage, food safety, traceability, bioactive compounds, and minimal processing.

Guy de Capdeville

Capdeville has a degree in Agronomy (1992), a professional Master's degree in Plant Protection (1995), and a “stricto sensu” Master's Degree in Plant Pathology (1996) from the Federal University of Viçosa, a PhD in Plant Pathology from Cornell University, USA (2001), and a postdoctoral degree in Plant Cytogenetics from Wageningen University, in the Netherlands (2008). He currently has the post of Researcher A at Embrapa Agroenergy. He has experience in the area of Agronomy, with emphasis on Plant Pathology, mostly working on the following themes: Pathogen-host interaction at molecular and ultrastructural levels, Plant cytogenetics (physical mapping of genes in meiotic chromosomes),and the development of light and electronic microscopy techniques to support the functional characterization of genes.

Executive Director of Innovation and Technology

Adriana Regina Martin

Postdoc in Technological Innovation from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). With a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, and a master's and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, she has experience in managing multinational companies like BRF, where she worked as manager of innovation networks, and HUNTSMAN, as head of the product development lab. In the governmental sphere, she was ahead of two boards related to innovation at the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), and participated in strategic inter-ministerial collegiate bodies related to intellectual property. Martin is also a collaborating lecturer for the master's degree in Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer for Innovation (PROFNIT) at the University of Brasília (UnB), where she was a visiting scholar in the area of Innovation Management.

Executive Director of Institutional Management

Tiago Toledo Ferreira

Ferreira has a degree in Economics from Unicamp, a master's degree in Economics from the University of São Paulo (USP), and a specialist's degree in Finance from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro's Business School (Coppead/UFRJ). He took courses in executive education in Brazil and abroad. Economic-financial analysis of industries and infrastructure projects, as well as denationalization, are some of the areas in which Ferreira has experience, on top of teaching finances. He was an executive of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) in the areas of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Institutional Relationships.

Embrapa's General Assembly (AG)

Body that aims at promoting higher clarity and transparency to the decision-making process and precision to the control performed by the bodies below.

 

Administrative Council (Consad)

Responsible for organizing, controlling, and evaluating Embrapa's activities.

 

Audit Committee (Coaud) 

Body that supports the Administrative Council in its audit and oversight roles.

 

National Advisory Council (CAN)

It advises on the definition and feasibility of relevant strategic actions that are relevant for planning Embrapa's schedule.

 

Fiscal Council (Confis)

It monitors the Corporation's asset, financial, and budget operations.

 

Personnel, Eligibility, Succession and Compensation Committee (Coele) 

It checks the compliance of the processes of nomination and evaluation of administrators and Fiscal Council members.
