Technical cooperation is an important instrument of the Brazilian Government to support capacity-building activities and technology transfer in developing countries.
This type of cooperation is carried out in support of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), an agency of the Ministry of External Relations (MRE) responsible for negotiating, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring Brazilian cooperation with international partners, as part of the Brazilian Government's foreign policy.
Technical cooperation instruments
- Structuring Projects: larger projects conducted in partnership with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) and/or other international cooperation agencies to contribute to agricultural production processes through technical cooperation activities in the areas of institutional development, technology validation, and capacity building.

Steps to establish an international technical cooperation project
- A Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement signed with Brazil is required;
- Cooperation request from the country interested in receiving the project;
- Request submitted to the Ministry of External Relations (MRE) Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC);
- Contact between ABC and Embrapa to formalize cooperation, and elaboration of project content according to requesting country's needs.
